Self Sustainable Heater (5th May 2010)

5th May 2010
Mr Andrew Kon's Office

Attendee:

  • Mr Andrew Kon
  • Mr Desmond Lim
  • Tan Kian How
  • Marcus Tan
  • Brenda Chen

Tasks Done:
  • Discussion on self sustainable heater which does not requires electricity
  • Decided on Ethanol Heater
      • Using solar energy to heat up ethanol, allowing it to enter the vapourised form and then channeling that heat energy to the waste inside.
      • Ethanol would then be vapourised and contain heat energy
      • Heat energy would then be pass onto the waste inside
      • Ethanol would condense back to liquid form and the cycle repeats.
      • As ethanol would only vapourise at 78° C, temperature inside would be kept constant.

    Tasks To Do:
    • Research on more self sustainable heaters that do not require electricity
